This book is a real eye opener on having a good and fulfilling prayer life. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a better prayer life and a better relationship with God, their family, and those around them.
Eh. Some of the entries left ME wondering what the point was - this book was for my son and he was lost a lot of the time.
Using together as a couple and we are loving the insight
I liked the book because it gave me fresh ideas for praying. Great stories to illustrate the concepts. Very good ministry too.
Profoundly encouraging We started a block club and I find such encouragement and direction in prayer. God hears and Why Pray has solid premise to build on this truth
I lead a prayer team at my church that gathers at 715am on Sundays before our worship to pray for the church around the world, our church, our pastors and most importantly, the worship services and the congregation. We had a sermon series based on this book this past summer. The author visited our church and preached at all three services. He is heavily involved with Mission India, an incredible evangelism project, among other things. I thought I knew how to pray before I read this book. I now know I was a baby and am growing every day as a result of insights from this book. It is organized as 40 daily devotions that are all excellent in their own right, but the are really powerful in order because they build on each other. Highly recommended, a life changer!
An excellent example of understanding prayer as an essential part of our relationship with God. After reading the first few small chapters, I ordered 48 copies of the book from Mission India, and all but two have been put into the hands of youth to elderly in our congregation. We began the readings, which were 40 in all, the day after Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent in our Church, a 40 day period leading up to Holy Week. Readers in our Ladies & Gents group kept notes on each day's reading and at our weekly meeting we discussed what helped us the most during the week. The experience sparked great conversation in our group of 15-20 members.
Selected couples got copies and some asked for copies for other family members who live elsewhere. Many of the experiences of prayer results came from the Mission field in India, and taught us that God is active in His response to prayer in all kinds of situations where Christians are treated with hostility, and sometimes violence, as they share the Love of God in Jesus Christ. This book by John DeVries was an encouragement to all who read it. The box of 48 books, available through Mission India, saved us almost 50% of the cost of individual copies, and that included shipping. You can order the book in quantity by calling (877) 644-6342, and ask for Tammy.
